Charla Club · Version of October 15, 2026
Legal notice
Owner
The owner of this site and of the Charla Club app is admin@charlaclub.com, tax identification number admin@charlaclub.com, with its address at admin@charlaclub.com. The service is operated from Spain, and this is also the information that article 10 of Spanish Law 34/2002 requires of a provider established there. This version of the notice is for people who use Charla Club from the United States and Puerto Rico.
Contact email: admin@charlaclub.com. It is the channel for anything about the service, for authorities and for notifying illegal content, with or without an account: it is explained on the point of contact page. For data protection matters, the rights mailbox is admin@charlaclub.com. For copyright notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the designated agent is admin@charlaclub.com; the procedure is in the terms.
What this site is
Charla Club is a social network for talking by voice with other people at a set time, for carrying on the conversation, in writing or by calling, with people you have chosen to talk to again, for meeting in person and for gathering in groups around a topic. The rules of use are in the terms and the community rules; what we do with data, in what we do with your data; and what the site stores in your browser, in the cookie policy.
The service is aimed at adults in the countries in which it is open.
What people publish
What is said, written or uploaded in a room, a conversation, a hangout or a group is published by whoever publishes it. Charla Club provides the space: it does not select that content, does not monitor it in a general way and does not become its author or publisher by hosting it, and to the extent that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. § 230) applies, it is not treated as the publisher or speaker of what other people publish. When it learns that something is illegal or breaks the rules, through a notice, a report or a ruling, it acts diligently to remove it or disable access to it, and explains it in writing to whoever published it.
Links added by members to outside services (a hangout's outside group, a video call, a link in a profile) lead to sites that are not Charla Club's, with their own terms. Charla Club does not manage them or answer for them; if one leads to something illegal, tell us and we remove it.
The faces on the home page
The faces shown on the home page are images generated with artificial intelligence. They are not photos of real people or of people who use Charla Club.
Intellectual property
The Charla Club name, its logo, the design of the site and the app and the service's own texts belong to the owner or are used under license; the name and the logo have been filed as a trademark. What members publish is theirs, and we use it with the permission given by the terms. The room titles the app offers as ideas and the hosts' guides are texts of the service. The service may not be copied, its data or people's faces extracted, or accessed by automated means. If you believe something published here infringes your copyright, the terms say how to send a notice to our designated agent.
What we use from others
- Country by IP address. To know which country you connect from we use the DB-IP database, installed on our own server: IP Geolocation by DB-IP. It is used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
- Cities and regions. The list the city is chosen from comes from the GeoNames gazetteer, under the same Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
- Our own hangouts map, when shown, is drawn with data from OpenStreetMap and its contributors, under the ODbL license, and with the MapLibre library.
- Google's map and venue search, when active, are also governed by the Google Maps terms, and what Google receives is in what we do with your data.
- The entry-code reader of the Android app is ML Kit, a Google library that ships inside the app and reads the codes on the phone, under Google's ML Kit terms; the metrics it sends to Google are in what we do with your data.
- Captions and transcription use the Vosk recognizer, which runs inside the phone; the title translator is LibreTranslate, which runs on our server; voice is relayed by a LiveKit server, also on our machine. They are free software and none of them receives your data outside Charla Club.
